Die Aufgaben umfassen die Bewertung bestehender und das Aufspüren neuer gesundheitlicher Risiken, die Erarbeitung von Empfehlungen zur Risikobegrenzung und die Kommunikation dieses Prozesses. Die Ergebnisse der Arbeit bilden die Basis für die wissenschaftliche Beratung der beteiligten Bundesministerien sowie anderer Behörden, beispielsweise des Bundesamtes für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit (BVL) und der Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin (BAuA). In seinen Bewertungen und Empfehlungen ist das BfR frei von wirtschaftlichen, politischen und gesellschaftlichen Interessen und gestaltet sie nachvollziehbar für den Bürger. Ein wissenschaftlicher Beirat sowie mehrere Expertenkommissionen unterstützen das BfR bei seiner Arbeit.
Die Risikobewertung erfolgt auf der Grundlage international anerkannter wissenschaftlicher Bewertungskriterien. Basierend auf den Ergebnissen der Risikoanalyse formuliert das Institut gegebenenfalls Handlungsoptionen zur Risikominderung.
Das BfR hat den gesetzlichen Auftrag, die Öffentlichkeit über mögliche, identifizierte und bewertete Risiken zu informieren, die Lebensmittel, Stoffe und Produkte für den Verbraucher bergen können. Die Bewertungen sollen transparent dargestellt werden und nachvollziehbar sein. The BfR is responsible, among other things, for human health protection aspects in the risk assessment of pesticides. The unit’s tasks focus on the permanent need to develop and establish new testing and assessment methods and strategies for the health risk assessment of pesticides. The advertised position focuses on the health risk assessment of microbial active substances for use in biopesticides.
Furthermore, the task involves participation in the further development of assessment strategies for the approval of microbial active substances and the authorisation of the corresponding products.
